Chicky loves looking at books in his crib during nap time. Today I was startled to find him fast asleep with an open book on his face. Apparently he did not want to put the book down even while sleep was taking over! After taking the pic. I removed the book and he didn't even stir....
O.K. So I am not a huge fan of making a breakfast that contains a lot of sugar but, on rainy, cool fall mornings this baked oatmeal is a real treat! We serve it in a bowl and pour fresh milk over it. The boys love it!
INGREDIENTS
• 4 cups milk
• 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
• 2 teaspoons butter or margarine
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 2 cups old-fashioned oats
• 2 cups chopped, peeled apples
• 1 cup chopped walnuts
• 1 cup raisins
• 1 cup wheat germ
DIRECTIONS
1. In a saucepan, heat milk, brown sugar, butter, salt and cinnamon. Add remaining ingredients; mix gently. Spoon into a greased 2-qt. casserole. Cover and bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes. Serve and pour milk over it if desired!
